Michael E. McCullough
February 15, 1949 - October 26, 2025
Michael E. McCullough, age 76, of Savannah died on Sunday, October 26. 2025 after an extended illness.
Mike was born on February 15, 1949, in Swainsboro, Georgia to the late Earl McCullough and the late Blanche Doster McCullough. Mike was a lifelong resident of Savannah and a graduate of Savannah High School. He went on to attend the University of Georgia, where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and built friendships that lasted a lifetime. Mike retired from Merrill Lynch after a long career in the brokerage business.
Mike was a longtime member of the Savannah Yacht Club and the Forest City Gun Club. An avid outdoorsman, Mike found great joy in fly fishing and bird hunting and was known for his remarkable ability to train bird dogs. He was also well-known for his good humor, warm spirit, and for making what many agreed was the best margarita around. Mike deeply valued the life he shared with his wife, Boo, and the many lasting friendships and memories they created together.
Mike is survived by his wife of 25 years, Jean “Boo” Logan McCullough; his sons, Michael E. McCullough, Jr. and Merritt Andrew McCullough (Stefanie); daughter, Janet Dixon “Happy” McCullough; stepdaughters, Alexis Moreau Pizza (Jonathan) and Megan Moreau Moore (Gordon); grandchildren, John Gordon Moore, Allie Pizza, Logan Moore, Amelia Pizza, Dash McCullough, and Margot McCullough; and a host of cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church (2 St. Thomas Ave Savannah, GA 31406).
Inurnment will follow in the Memorial Garden of St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church.
A reception will follow the service in the Parish Hall.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Hospice Savannah, and St. Thomas Episcopal Church.
